What we do

Why we’re here to help

Whether you are a homeowner, landlord, private tenant or social housing resident in Leeds, Home Energy West Yorkshire can help. Working in partnership with Leeds City Council, we are already helping to make homes across Leeds more energy efficient. If you own, rent or are in social housing – you can benefit from free impartial advice from our energy experts, get help accessing any available funding and find installers you can trust.

We’re busy saving Leeds residents’ money

We have worked to improve almost 100 homes in the Armley area. Because they were built in the 1900s, residents said they were cold, drafty and expensive to run. Many of them had an EPC Certificate of E or D. We worked with Leeds City Council and Equans, a TrustMark quality approved contractor, to improve the insultation and install new windows and doors. This has made houses warmer and more comfortable, helped cut bills and improved them to EPC Certificate C.

Building types

The Leeds area has a wide variety of private and social homes. Houses make up almost 70%, with over 28% terraced, over 30% semi-detached and under 11% detached houses. Just under 25% are flats and almost 6% are bungalows. A large number of these homes were built before 1900 and many others between 1930 and 1982. These older houses, in particular those in fuel poverty areas, can benefit most from our free energy saving expertise and retrofit energy-saving improvements.
