Home Energy West Yorkshire is here to offer impartial, free advice from dedicated energy experts. We can also help you find trusted contractors and get any available funding to help towards the cost of energy efficiency improvements.

Why we’re here to help

Kirklees has around 180,000 homes, with a mix of detached, semi-detached, terraces and flats. Like elsewhere in West Yorkshire, many homes have an Energy Performance Certificate rating below C, meaning they fall short of Government targets for energy performance. Around 17% of households in Kirklees are in fuel poverty. If you own, rent or are in social housing – you can benefit from free, impartial advice from our energy experts, get help accessing any available funding and find installers you can trust.

Building types

Kirklees has a wide variety of private and social housing, from Victorian terraces and post-war semis to modern developments and rural cottages. Approximately 33% of homes are terraced and 33% are semi-detached – both of which are higher than the national average. 20% are detached and 13% are flats or apartments. Around 66% of residents are homeowners, 19% rent privately and 11% rent from the council or housing associations.
