How we help social tenants

The friendly team of trusted energy experts at Home Energy West Yorkshire are dedicated to making homes warmer, healthier to live in and cheaper to run. Our support covers everything from simple changes you can make that cost nothing, right through to upgrades your landlord can make. These could include installing triple glazed windows, energy efficient lighting or better ventilation and insulation. We’ll work closely with you and your landlord, explain what you can expect if any upgrades are carried out and be there for you throughout the installation. We can even help your social housing landlord get any available funding for improvements.

Energy savings you can easily make

There are numerous small DIY tips and changes you can make to how you live that can improve your energy efficiency and lower your energy bills. These energy saving tips cost nothing and can all be found on our home energy advice page.

Improvements your landlord can make

As your landlord, your social housing provider or housing association is responsible for making any significant improvements to your home. Many may have already applied for funding from the Government to make upgrades, such as new windows, insulation, lighting and ventilation, to make their homes more energy efficient. Contact your social housing landlord to find out if they have applied for the Warm Homes Social Housing Fund, which runs until September 2028. Ask if your home is included in this programme and if it is being considered for home efficiency improvements. Funds are limited though, so they aren’t always able to make improvements to all of their properties straight away.
